BISMILLAHIRRAHMANIRRAHIEM. Lupakan sejenak kategori sufi yang terlalu serius dari Ibnu Arabi atau urafa lainnya. Ada kutub, ghauts, aimmah, autad, abdal, nuqaba, hawariyun, nujaba, rajabiyun, khatamul wilayah, maktum, uwaisyiyin dan lainnya.
Dalam amatan kami di akhir zaman ini, sufi itu beragam. Ada sufi marxist, sufi borjuis, sufi humanis, sufi tradisionalis, sufi akademis, sufi birokratis, sufi politis; dan sebagainya -sesuai karakter anda. Termasuk mulai banyak muncul sufi scopus. Semua amalannya diarahkan untuk meningkatkan indeks di scopus.
Jadi, jangan berharap bahwa sufi itu ragamnya tunggal. Jangan mengira, sufi itu adalah seseorang yang sudah menyepi ke pinggir gunung, suka menunduk, tidak lagi makan pizza dan mulai menjauh dari warung kopi. Kalau itu yang ada dalam pikiran Anda, Anda betul-betul tidak mengerti sufi.
Nah, kebetulan, yang disamping saya ini disebut-sebut sebagai sufi sosialis. Bajunya praktis. Ripcurl pula mereknya. Gayanya populis. Tak ada jubah, apalagi putaran tasbih. Tulisan-tulisannya kritis. Pendapatnya sering membuat orang naik tensi gula darah. Saya tanya, “Apa abang gak takut kalau nulisnya terlalu keras?”. Jawab beliau, “Selama Allah masih senang, saya tetap di jalan ini”.
